Siding Replacement

Signs your siding needs a boost

Since siding can fall along the wayside at times, you may not even know what to look for to determine if your home needs repairs or replacements. If your Allen siding is just a bit faded or chipped, you should be safe from major problems if repairs aren’t done. However, you need to keep an eye out for the following signs of serious issues:

1. Broken or damaged siding

This is an easy one to spot quickly. Damaged siding isn’t just an eyesore, it’s also leaving your home open to serious internal damage that can be quite costly to repair if left unattended.

2. Mold and Mildew

Most siding is susceptible to mold or mildew because of the porous materials they’re composed of. Unless you have concrete or brick, you have a prime breeding ground for mold spores and mildew.

3. rot

Contrary to popular belief, rot does not need mold in order to occur. Rot tends to happen when siding is broken and left unrepaired. If there is rot, the entire piece needs to be completely replaced.

4. decreased insulation efficacy

Damaged siding can allow air to travel in and out of the home, which will ultimately cause your heating and cooling bills to increase. If you’ve noticed this, check your siding out.
